I'm new here, what do I do?
First, type wear all. This will equip you with all your armor.
Then type inv (short for inventory). You should have a weapon. Type wield <weapon name> to equip it.
Straight up from where you enter the game is the Newbie Zone. This place has some easy mobs that you can kill to get exp (Experience Points), which in turn allows you to gain levels, train stats, and raise your hitpoints and mana.
After you have explored the Newbie Zone, type help areas and look map. This will help you get an idea of other places to go.
How do I get money?
After you kill a mob, make sure you loot the remains. Type autoloot and you will automatically get everything out of the corpse of your victim.
How do I get better weapons/armor?
Save up your credits, and sell all the equipment you come along during your adventures. While not all of it is worth selling, extra equipment may be able to be turned into credits at the shops. Most towns and planets have shops on them. Also make sure to check Donations, 1 down from the moisture vaporator in Mos Eisley.
Another way to get better equipment is to buy it on the auction channel. When you see an item you wish to bid on, type bid <amount>
How can I tell if one piece of equipment is better than another?
Scan them using a scanner bought from a force shop, like Heff's on Mos Eisley. Type use scanner <item> to see the stats on an item.
If you wish to know the stats of an item being auctioned, simply type auc stats
How can I find out my stats?
Type score to see your stats, such as Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. For more in depth stats, like the spells affecting you or how long you have been playing RotJ, type score full.
How can I change my stats?
One method of changing stats is to train them at your guildmaster. Training stats costs experience points, gained when you kill a mob. Type train at your guildmaster to view the list of stats available to train. The price of training increases with each train.
I am bored of Mos Eisley. How do I get to other planets?
There are several ways to get to other planets. The easiest way it to buy a ship from a captain. Ships range from simple escape pods to YT-1300 Freighters to the latest Imperial and New Republic starfighters. Once you find a ship you can afford, type pilot <ship name>
Another way to get off-planet is to use the board command at the transport in northwest Mos Eisley. This will take you to Kallista. Another ship you can board is the Millenium Falcon. Be careful, Han and Chewie don't take kindly to stow-aways!
There are other areas on Tatooine to explore also, including Jabba's Palace, Bomarr Monks Pyramid, Anchorhead, and the Jundland Wastelands.
What zone is good for me?
Type "help area" when in the game for a listing of what zones are good for what levels.
Am I allowed to kill/steal from other players?
You are allowed to kill other players yes. Stealing (except for credits) is currently prohibited. See 'help pkill' on the mud for detailed rules.
What is serving?
When you reach level 5, find your way to Emperor Palpatine, and choose to "serve" him.
You will get 1.5 times of experience of an unserved character, increased regeneration, and a bonus for sanctuary and anti-sanctuary skills. BEWARE! If your character is served and dies, the character will be lost forever.
I served, and then died. Can I get reimbursed?
No. And there is no way to not be a servant once you become a servant. So make this decision wisely.
What happens when I die?
You get more experience points added to the amount you needed to level.
Your corpse, with all the possessions you once had, will be lying (decomposing) where you fell. You will be without equipment when you enter the game, so you probably won't be able to use comlink, fly into hyperspace, or do well in battle until you change this by buying more stuff or retrieving your old stuff from your corpse.
Will I get reimbursed from dying?
No. Players play at their own risk. That's part of the fun!
I keep dying!
Figure out why you keep dying, and then don't do that anymore.
I don't like my name or class... can I change them?
No. The only way to change one of these would be to make a new character. That character would not be reimbursed from the other character. It is also illegal to transfer any eq/credits from an old charectar to a new one.
What is a subber?
A subguilder, or subber, is someone who has reached level 60 and chosen a different, more specialized path. There are 2 subguild choices for each class. To join a subguild, you must first find the subguildmaster for the subguild you wish to join.
How do I get a personal weapon?
First, you have to collect the parts needed for your weapon. Check out the diagram or book in your guild in Mos Eisley to see exactly what parts you need and how to create your personal weapon
Second, make sure you are level 40.
Third, make sure you have a high enough weapon proficiency.
Fourth, compile the parts at the creation workbenches in your guildhall.
I used to have a personal weapon, but I lost it (either through purge, DT, or dying)... can I get it back?
No. Once you lose a personal weapon, you cannot get it back. You will need to find the items again.
What is a purge?
There are at least 2 different types of purges... an "Equipment Purge" is when all the equipment from all the players are deleted. This is done to remove stagnant players' objects for others to obtain and use, or for other administrative or code-based reasons. A "Player Purge" occurs once in a very long while. A player purge deletes every character from the game, requiring most players to start over at level 1. This is done when the game has become stagnant or if a substantial amount of new code has been put in, requiring the need for everyone to start over. There are no reimbursements for either purge.
I used to be a higher level on the mud before we purged, can I get it back?
After a purge, there are no reimbursements of any kind - this includes equipment, levels, experience, etc.
I lost link, and when I came back on I was dead. What happened?
Agressive mobs can attack you even if you're linkless. Likewise, if you're involved in a fight and lose link, the mob will continue to hack on you. Be careful, and remember to bring along a bus pass for when it gets laggy. We are not responsible for lagged characters, and if you die while lagged or linkless, you will not be reimbursed.
I forgot my password!
We cannot give out passwords under any circumstances. Sorry. However a high level admin can change your password for you (assuming we can prove it really is your charectar)
I can't see!
You're either the recipient of a blind or fog spell, or you're outside during nighttime hours. Remember to bring a lamp next time.
I'm lost! Can you teleport me?
When lost in the galaxy, use a personal distress probe to bring you back to Mos Eisley. If it is too dark to see the one you brought along, wait until daylight or have a friend summon you out. Remember that some aggressive mobs can see in the dark, so be careful about galivanting around. New players can use the command recall until a specified amount of experience has been collected.
I hit a DeathTrap (DT)... Can I get my stuff back?
Sorry, no.
I found a bug or typo... how do I report it?
There are several ways. Type "bug The game crashes whenever I type starwarsrules three times fast." Or "typo Misspelled is spelled with an X in A Dark Corner Of Coruscant." Or just post it on the board or mudmail your local imm-type.
I have this great idea for a skill, zone, special procedure... what do I do?
We'd love to hear about it! Likewise as above, type "idea There should be a fountain on Hoth," Theres also our forums located here where both players and imms discuss ideas for the mud.
How do I submit a zone for the mud?
Check the builders resources page located on this site under the 'resources' tab.
How do I find help on things not covered here?
See the help files. Type "help."
I got pkilled. Now what?
Go regen, when you get pkilled you don't loose your eq. It stays on your person and you end up back in port. The only thing you loose from a pkill is the credits you've got on hand and time.
My problem is with an immortal. What now?
Tell someone higher, preferably a master. If your problem is with a master, find another mud.
